Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community

The project has several uses, all relating to the care, restoration, and housing of the artifacts and documents. The project consists of two buildings. The larger building is 24,562 SF and includes administrative areas, collection space for museum artifacts, community relations storage, large rooms for permanent collections, special archive rooms, processing rooms, and two conservation laboratories for preparation of items and archaeological artifacts. The main building has planned expansion of 6,000 SF. The second building will house the NAGPRA facility which includes a processing room, two collection spaces, and the dormitory suite for use during ceremonies. The buildings are separated due to the sensitive nature of the NAGPRA activities. The NAGPRA building is 2,644 SF.
